Hon. Henry St George Tucker, professor of constitutional and international law and longtime dean of the Washington and Lee University law faculty, resigns to take effect July 1. The Tucker family long served the institution, with Tucker guiding fundraising for Tucker Memorial Hall and the Wilson memorial chair. He will practice law in Virginia and aid the Southern Education Conference to promote public education.

Freight car crashes into dust house at Market Street
A runaway Baltimore and Ohio freight car swept down the siding toward Market street smashing the end of the flour dust house at W. B. Baker's Son. Bumpers and timbers failed to stop it. The car jammed into the dust house wall, then halted and was pulled back for repairs by the railroad company.
