A second victim of the blast is in the hospital with serious burns to the arms and legs. Stewart Bowen is badly burned but may recover, according to hospital officials.
A report details nine fatalities in Shenandoah and Berkeley counties linked to explosions of kerosene oil and eleven people seriously burned. Authorities have taken no action for investigation, while a Winchester resident, Stewart E. Bowen, suffered severe burns from a kitchen oil explosion.
Bowen Misa Esther Bowen of Bruns-wiel Maryland has been in poor health for some time and was injured in an early morning explosion. Mr Bowen is employed by the city street department and is the son of local auctioneer William Bowen. A brother was the late Canton A Bowen, a known liveryman. Mr Grover C Carper and Miss Rosa May Carpenter, both from Frederick county families, were married last evening by Rev W O Talbert at Brat dock Street Methodist Episcopal Church South parsonage. The bride is daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Carpenter. The groom, son of Mr and Mrs Joshua Carper, is a prosperous young farmer and they will remain in the county.

Jacob Rubel aged 80 a former Confederate enlisted from Louisiana died of pneumonia at his Boyds Maryland home. A Wuertenberg Germany native he served in Stonewall Jackson's brigade and worked with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad for years. He is survived by his widow Miss Nall of Winchester and five children.
Young Theodore Riley son of Albert C. South Market Street resident left this afternoon for Norfolk Virginia to enlist in the United States naval service. He was accompanied as far as Staunton by G W Pulliam.
