Aged Man Rescued After Freezing Ordeal Near Cherry Grove
Nelson Henry 76 of near Cherry Grove was found exhausted and frozen after wandering in cold darkness while moving for a neighbor. He was saved by neighbors after four hours of searching and taken to his home in Back Creek district where he recovered enough to return home. His impaired vision and age contributed to the misstep, and snow aided the tracing effort.

Little Miss Mary Orndorff Dies of Spinal Meningitis
Mary Orndorff age 14 died at 11 16 at home 540 North Main Street from spinal meningitis after vaccination. Her family and friends mourn her loss as she was popular with local children. Her father Mr T J Orndorff was away at a Virginia Anti-Saloon League convention when telegrids reached him. Uncle Dr J Linccdin of Lacey Springs consulted with doctors. Serum from Rockefeller Institute was used but she died within an hour. Some reported death from vaccination but doctors say no basis in fact. She leaves parents and two sisters Grace and Alice. Funeral arrangements not announced.
