Inspection Contract Led to Bridge and Toll Tickets for Travelers

President H F Byrd and Si L R Dettra of the Valley 2% Bike Company visited Harrisonburg for a field check on the Winchester to Staunton turnpike. They plan extensive spring repairs, culverts, ditch cleaning, and macadamizing sections to restore the road, plus construction of a new iron bridge over Black's Run. Tickets will be sold at Staunton and Winchester ends and cafes for toll coverage along the pike. Byrd projects a surge of summer automobile traffic and aims to attract Glidden tour participants.
