House of Delegates Passes the Enabling Act in Virginia
Richmond Va Feb 23 after three days of debate the House adopted the Jordan enabling act by 62 to 30 providing that if one fourth of voters in the preceding November election petition the governor an election shall be held on prohibiting the manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors in Virginia except for medicine and art cider made from pure juice is exempted The measure goes to the Senate for next Monday night hearing If the Senate adopts 27000 voters would need to petition for an election and the result would depend on next steps continued on page 6

Relieved passengers recount Baltimore and Ohio train robbery
A letter from relatives says Mr. and Mrs. Walker Bond were held up by a masked bandit on Baltimore and Ohio express train No. 1 near Keyser West Virginia. Bonds lost a gold watch and $30 cash but later recovered portions of the loot after freight brakeman Becker confessed.
