Snow Drift Incident Halts Winchester Ride
Yesterday afternoon Clark Maxwell and a colored youth named Bounce set out in a sleigh for Robert Arbuckle’s residence near Bartonsville. The sleigh upset in a snow drift. Bounce disappeared headfirst, while Maxwell rode on until the horse galloped away. Maxwell did not return to Winchester, and Bounce walked to Kernstown to catch a train home.
