Virginia Governor Expected to Sign Enabling Act
Richmond Feb 18 The Senate finance committee favored the measure to allocate 12000 for the Virginia Home and Industrial School For Girls near Bon Air while opposing state takeover. The Baker-Land bill for a 20 member tax commission and a special session in January 1915 passed both houses. Governor Stuart is likely to sign the enabling act this evening after reviewing briefs from senators Mapp Walker Barry Early and others and consultations with the attorney general.

Noted Winchester clergyman Dr Hyde dies after stroke
Rev. Dr John Paisall Hyde, longtime Winchester resident and educator, died at age about 75 in Clarksburg after a paralytic stroke. Born in Annapolis, he taught in Maryland and Virginia, led Brucetown Academy, ran Fort Loudoun Seminary, served as chaplain in Stonewall Brigade, and held Confederate veteran leadership roles. His funeral will be in Clarksburg with interment there.
