Kansas news notes state Senator T A Milton a native of Bunker Hill Berkeley County West Virginia announces candidacy for United States Senate in the Kansas primaries. Milton serves in the Kansas State Senate representing part of Kansas City Kansas and is praised by Wyandotte Daily Critic. He is brother of Charlestown resident Frank Milton.
Reverend William T. Walters will preach to the Friendship Fire Company at 7 30 Sunday evening. Members meet at their hall at 7 o'clock and march to the church where seats are reserved for them.

Virginia history was marked as Lieutenant-Governor J Taylor Ellyson cast the deciding vote to break a 19 to 19 Senate tie on the enabling act. The House and Senate approved the conferees report paving the way for a September 22 1914 election if petitioned. The act would allow manufacturing beer wine and cider outside the state with sale and shipment restrictions. Delegate White urged reconsideration denouncing amendments as a cowardly makeshift to catch votes and urging no compromises on principle. The House rejected the motion 58 to 24.
Mrs Sadié Cain wife of William Cain a well known Winchester resident died last night at their home 8 West Cork street after a long tuberculosis illness She was born in Fairfax county Virginia July 8 1879 and died at 35 She is survived by her husband three children and several siblings Funeral services will be held at the house Sunday at 3 pm by Rev D Taylor and burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery Also notes on visitors and local town sightings from Martinsburg and Edinburg surroundings.
