In Richmond the Virginia Senate re elected Hon Thomas W Harrison as Judge of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit of Virginia. Harrison, a leading jurist and constitutional law authority, completed eight years of service on January 1 1903 and began in 1895. The term expires February 1 1904 under the new organic law and future eight year elections are anticipated. Harrison previously partnered with Richard E Byrd in Frederick county.

Deputy Chief Officer C. E. Neville, a popular Winchester policeman, suffered a vertigo attack in the police court area shortly before 1 PM and fell, striking his head. He recovered enough to walk home after medical attention. doctors attributed the fall to vertigo with only a forehead abrasion and nervous shock reported.

Woman Fights Off Negro Attacker at Winchester Farm
Mrs. Charles L Holliday of Winchester was assaulted alone at her Boyce area farm last Tuesday evening. Tom Johnson, a Black man from Berryville in Clarke County, is jailed there facing a hanging charge after being captured following the attempted sexual assault on the well known white woman. The incident occurred while her husband was away and the Holliday residence and nearby Hess farm were unoccupied. Johnson reportedly forced entry, but Holliday resisted fiercely in a desperate struggle before authorities detained him.
