Rufus Delafield of Sunswick Poultry Farm Plainfield New Jersey paid $125 for six eggs from Lady of the Snow a White Orpington hen. The bird won 40 blue ribbons and numerous trophies and prizes. Delafield says $130 a setting is common for the prize hen's eggs.

Never Cut Hair After Surrender Story of James Adams
John Adams, an 80 year old Confederate veteran, died at the Confederate home in Pikesville near Baltimore. He enlisted at Alexandria and vowed never to cut his hair after Lee's surrender at Appomattox, keeping it long in ringlets. He drew attention at a fair years ago when exhibited, hair preserved with curl papers each night. Though he joined from Virginia, Adams was born in Maryland.

Little Boy Burns After Slop Bucket Accident
