Special Dispatch reports J Samuel McCue was put to death in the Charlottesville jail yard for murdering his wife Fannie McCue. He confessed to clergymen, appeared calm before the drop, which fell at 7 34 a m, and died at 7 53 a m. He shook hands with his pastor and City Sergeant Rogers, then bade the crowd farewell as he walked to the scaffold.

George Peyton Craighill prominent chemist of Sbynchburg native of Charlestown West Virginia died at Lynenburg yesterday morning after a short illness of pneumonia and heart trouble. He died on his fifty fourth birthday and had formerly lived in Hagerstown and Richmond. He married Lillie Giles Langhorne and is survived by two daughters and three sons plus his wife Col Maurice Langhorne was his father in law. He is first cousin of Mrs A Holmes Berry of Winchester.
