Rev. David S. Henkel a Shenandoah County evangelist merchant Confederate veteran and attorney died Saturday at his Chatham Virginia home where he pastored the Church of the Disciples of Christ. He long ago rose in Democratic politics and served Shenandoah in the Virginia House of Delegates in the early 1880s. Funeral held today in New Market with Rev. J. D. Hamaker officiating and Masons conducting the grave service.

John Christopher Cammer Lived Local Leader in Frederick County
The late John Christopher Cammer, a prominent Frederick County resident, died at Mountain Falls after a long public service career. He served as revenue commissioner for 19 years and held several county roles. He aided the Winchester Continentals guarding John Brown in Charlestown jail before joining the Stonewall Brigade.
