Hugh Lee Powell Connected With Prominent Winchester Families
Hugh Lee Powell died of paralysis at his Leesburg home at age 70. He was a Confederate veteran, son of the late William Alexander Powell of Leesburg, and was connected to prominent Winchester families. He is survived by his wife a son and two daughters. Powell formerly lived in Staunton where his first wife Miss Stribling was a native.

United States commissioner GQ.Me reports Bowers and Col. Stuart W Walker have purchased Capts D W Shail’s business property on West King Street opposite the federal building for 13000. The lot measures 65 by 120 feet and a six story steel and brick apartment building will rise with two large first floor storerooms. The project is the first of its kind in Martinsburg and will cost over 75000 a new building.
