Westinghouse to Build Turbines for Winchester and Washington Railway
The Westinghouse Manufacturing Company of Pittsburgh has been awarded the contract for steam turbines and an electric generator for the auxiliary steam plant of the Winchester and Washington City Railway at Millville. Delivery is required by June 1 next, with the two 700 horsepower boilers and construction work to be let soon. The new turbine design represents an innovative power development, and officials expect the plant to be fully operational by June.

Injured Clergyman Recovers After Street Fall
Rev Dr John P Hyde, a retired Winchester educator and prominent SM church member, narrowly escaped serious injury after leaving a union evangelistic service. He stumbled on a curb on East Cork Street near the Friendship Fire Company hall, fell and struck his face and knees. He was bruised and suffered a nervous shock, aided by Mr John Thwaite and Mr Oglesbee, who carried him to Hotel Evans. He spent a restless night but showed improvement today.

Mr. John W. Davis Dies After Lingering Illness
John W. Davis a leather merchant and shoe manufacturer on East Piccadilly street died at his North Avenue home after a prolonged illness from Bright's disease at age sixty five. He was born May 5 1845 in Hampshire County West Virginia and moved to this city about nine years ago. Survived by widow Elizabeth and five children and several siblings. Funeral Monday at Timber Ridge Christian church with interment at Mount Hebron.
