Weather Bureau bulletin predicts substantial rain this week with temperatures near seasonal averages across the country. A southwest disturbance will move northward crossing the Great Central Valleys Monday into Monday night, then into the Eastern States. A second disturbance in the far west will reach the middle west Thursday or Friday, bringing widespread precipitation and likely ending a dry spell in the Pacific states. Colder air is expected later in the week.
Bristol Virginia February 3 a pretty golden haired seventeen year old girl disappeared from home. Her father traced her to the Yankee Doodle Boy theatrical troupe which played here Thursday night. She was taken in charge at Big Stone Gap and returned home Saturday. The girl has long shown a leaning toward the stage and the dispatch notes the troupe had four chorus girls in Winchester recently.

After months of illness from Brights disease rheumatism and complications Mr Walter Hillyard of 608 South Braddock Street Winchester dies at 2 4 am on Sunday in his sixty seventh year He was born December 25 1846 and spent most of his life in Winchester He is survived by his widow a son three daughters two brothers and a sister with ties to local business and industry Continued on page 8.
The regular meeting of the Teachers Association of Frederick County and Winchester will be held Saturday February 8 at 11 a.m. in the John Kerr School.
