Late Dr. Pierce Remembered by Martinsburg and Winchester
Rev. Dr. J. A. Pierce died Monday in Washington at 77 after 50 years in the ministry. Former pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church in Martinsburg, he served as presiding elder in Baltimore districts and was a twice a general conference delegate. He was born in Centre County Pennsylvania and is survived by his widow Catherine Andrews and five children.

Frederick County Teachers Set Saturday Payment in Winchester
The Frederick County Teachers Association will meet at the courthouse hall at 11 o clock Saturday the 5th for routine business and payday. Supt M M Lynch is preparing checks for about 60 teachers totaling around 2500 dollars to be distributed at the Farmers and Merchants National Bank on Rouss avenue. Carl L Mellwee died at his father's home near Gainesboro at 6 o clock after a long tuberculosis illness. He was 17, born November 29, 1898. He leaves his father Charles E Mellwee two brothers E O and J W Mellwee of Washington and Robert Mellwee, plus sisters Mrs George Patton Winchester and Rose Mellwee. Funeral at Southern Methodist church Gainesboro Thursday at 11 conducted by Rev Green.
