Constitution Convention Retains Present Judiciary System
The Constitutional Convention yesterday disposed of the Judiciary Committee report and ordered printing as amended. The new judiciary will have five supreme judges and 18 circuit judges, with all existing city courts retained. Winchester may keep or drop its corporation court, expected to be retained. Judge Thomas W. Harrison proposed a substitute for the state system with fourteen circuits and uniform salaries, with possible circuit rearrangement every eight years.
