Three women hobos who had been in Winchester for a week entered Mrs Hodgson’s boarding house on South Market Street and announced they would stay the night. City Sergeant J William Taylor ejected them after protests. They wandered then found a lodging on Piccadilly Street. The women habitually apply at homes demanding food and shelter.

Old Colored Woman Found Dead In Bed Near Brucetown
Sarah Jane Diggs aged about eighty was found dead in her Brucetown area home early this morning. She had lived as a former slave with a nearby family and retired in good health. Mrs J B Beverley and Mrs Shirley Carter left for Washington while O Easton and BE Philips of Hagerstown checked into Hotel Evans.
