Richard E. Byrd of Winchester praised Hal Flood of Appomattox for proposing a congressional bill to create a $25,000,000 annual surplus funded road program. Fairfax Club Moves to Handsome New Home

It is heated by steam and lighted by electricity and gas and contains modern conveniences. Bulldog Fights Fox Terrier on North Main Street
Excitement rose on North Main Street as a bulldog owned by Lucien Carr Jr. attacked a fox terrier belonging to Miss Laura Baker. Merchants and bystanders tried to separate them with water, clubs, and a buggy whip until Frank Taylor heated a rod and intervened, ending the fight.

Made Threat to Shoot His Wife in Shenandoah County

Jefferson Randolph Ruffin Dies at 66 in Richmond Home
Jefferson Randolph Ruffin grandson of Thomas Jefferson was found dead in bed at the Confederate Soldiers Home in Richmond at age sixty six. He served through the Civil War with the Rockbridge Artillery and left a fine record. He was buried in Charlottesville after a Winchester-based parade of comrades.

Nearly twelve hundred people attended the Mare Street rink opening with 225 skaters on the floor and 900 seated for the event. The formal ceremony featured Miss Guesse Conrad of Chester as the gong caller while Albert Stone and H English led the music supplied by the North Tonowanda Electric Milit Land brass band. Manager J. H. Henry oversaw arrangements, and though complimentary tickets were limited, no admission was charged for the opening night, inviting all to enjoy the spectacle.
