Winchester awoke to several inches of fresh snow with a total near ten inches by afternoon. Trains ran late and county roads were blocked by drifts as sleighs returned to use. forecasters predicted fair and cooler conditions tonight and Sunday, marking the first winter storm of the season.

The New Orleans States notes that the yearly harvest of American corn and wheat could not be bought with the country’s total gold.
