The regular monthly meeting of the Teachers Association of Wins Chester and Frederick county was held today in the John Kerr Public Schools auditorium with many teachers present. President R L Stickel presided and Miss Elizabeth Cleveland spoke on The Importance of Oral and Written Expression by the Pupil in a masterful, engaging address. Miss Cleveland is being entertained by Miss Pearl Haldeman, a Harrisonburg State Normal School graduate.
De Buff Bros present dancers in revolving upside down routine using special apparatus. Pathe Weekly feature also shown. Admission ten cents at the Moving Picture Auditorium tonight.
Four trainmen of the Western Maryland Railroad were killed and one wounded as a passenger train collided head on with a freight on a mountain near Pen-Mar. A signalman ordering confusion blamed for the wreck. The passenger train was empty, preventing greater loss of life.

Telegraph report from Galveston Texas dated December 7 states a woman stowaway was found today aboard the battleship Kansas as Admiral Fletcher's fleet entered Galveston bay. Dressed in men's clothing, she refused to give a name but claimed to be from Philadelphia.
In Harrisonburg Virginia December 7 records show prosecutor plans to prove Joseph Frazier's wife was killed by him amid claims his associates were misled at Island Ford into exhuming the wrong grave and swapping headboards. Witnesses recount bruises on the corpse and on deathbed testimony. Defense argues natural causes and a conspiracy. Several witnesses resisted summons requiring deputies to compel attendance.
Scandinavian concert pianist Emmanuel Wad, famed in Europe and America, appears once at the Presbyterian Church Annex. The concert is Monday December 9 at 8 PM with tickets 35 cents available at Boyd's Drug Store and at the door.
Postmaster Kern urges sending Christmas gifts before December 24 and not relying on last minute delivery. He warns against placing Red Cross stamps on addresses and notes stamps use can raise mail to first class if misused. Register valuable letters and ensure outside addresses. Postcards flood expected. decorated cards must be sealed in envelopes and sent first class.
The Kalem Company rural comedy drama The Farm Bully will be shown at the Auditorium in Winchester on Tuesday night. The film is regarded as one of the best pictures taken by the company.
Miss Annie Elizabeth Bradford married Palmer E. Judd and Miss Kathleen Bradford wed Elmer Fox at the home of H. G. Bradford editor of the Page Valley Record. Rev. P. L. Snapp of the Lutheran Church officiated. The brides are daughters of the late Daniel Bradford noted Shenandoah Valley newspaper man.
Weather forecast for Virginia indicates unsettled conditions with rain tonight and Sunday. Temperatures expected to drop in the southern portion as a cold front moves in.

An outpouring of family and lifelong friends from Winchester Frederick and nearby counties attended funeral services for Turner A Lewis fatally injured last week while demonstrating his threshing machine invention on a farm near Kerk Pa. The service was led by Rev Juke FR Markwood with Rev Dr J W Duffey of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. A choir sang hymns and floral offerings conveyed affection. Burial followed at Mount Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers included Howard P. Kerns J Co Ford Norman Whiting Thomas R Graybeal Dr William A Bell and Maurice M Lynch.
A fair sized audience at the Auditorium last night enjoyed the musical comedy Seven Hours In New York. The show was well staged with appealing costuming and a pretty chorus. those who attended praised the production as one of the season’s best attractions.

Mary E Pangle and husband to C W Winesburg for a lot in Middletown for 250 dollars.

Major Harry Carpenter and wife close The Highlands and head to Panama. Reverdy Johnston Lewis hosts dinner with guests Mr and Mrs Lewis.
