Albert Bobo, a 35 year old Moorefield man, was crushed when a lumber wagon overturned on a steep hill near Old Field's Mill. The brake failed, a wheel struck the bank, and the load crushed him instantly. Funeral held at Presbyterian Church with Rev. Neff.

Intelligence from Winchester states Elizabeth Towns of Pinole California died last Thursday at age 82. Survived by five sons including Julius Towns of Mt Olive and William Towns of Harpers Ferry, plus daughter Mrs J H A Cooper of Star Tannery. Body to Woodstock then Mt Olive for burial. Sister of Mrs George W Miley, Woodstock, making Miley the last surviving in the family. two other sisters also died this year.

Colored Man Weathers Dies at Ninety Six in Armel
Frank Weathers a respected colored resident of Armel died after a brief illness at age ninety six. A former slave, he remained loyal to the white owners after emancipation. Survived by a widow and a grandson Jim Weathers. He was the oldest man in this Virginia area and his funeral will be held here.

Lightning strikes Hagerstown man in house shock

Records of Union Cavalry Troops Found in Stephens City
Mr. Russell A. Shryock possesses valuable military records from his father’s papers in Stephens City. The collection includes report books minute books and court martial records from three Federal cavalry troops stationed in the area during winter 1861 62. One troop hailed from Michigan another from New York and a third from Philadelphia covering October 1861 to May 1862. The books are leather bound and well preserved.

Latane Stricken With Typhoid in Winchester
The Winchester community learns that Mr. James A. Latane of Baltimore, brother of Dr. H. P. Latane, contracted typhoid fever at his brother's West Water street home. His condition is listed as satisfactory for now as he receives care, with possible hospital transfer discussed.
