History of Presbyterian Church in Winchester
The long arc of Presbyterianism in Winchester traces to early settlements, with key figures like Rev. Samuel Gelston, Rev. James Anderson, and Rev. John Thomson. The old stone church hosted major assemblies, survived through the 1838 Great Schism, and saw Kent Street and Loudoun Street churches form. By 1900 Rev. Dr. J H Lacy led a revived, expanded congregation with plans for rededication.
