In Staunton Virginia on November 30 Jacob Nichols a 40 year old furloughed patient of the Western State Insane Asylum died eighteen hours after Clyde Nichols aged 18 discharged a pistol during a struggle over firearms. The elder had shown violence after butchering time and returned home with whisky to threaten his family. Clyde attempted to hide the gun to prevent tragedy when it discharged.
