Burley Tobacco Society Sells Entire Holdings to Buyers
The Burley Tobacco Society completed the largest sale in the country as the American Tobacco Company and various independents acquired the society's remaining 1906 crop and all of the 1907 crop. Independents formed a temporary group to bid separately after disputes over allocation. the final contract left the 25 percent portion to independent manufacturers while the society disbursed no portion itself.
