After a conference with principal horsemen and stock raisers the county doctors committee set the Clark County fair for August 6 through 10 to raise funds for a Winchester hospital. Doctors signed the pledge guarantees and prospects look bright for the best Clark county fair yet.
Police raided Chas Crockett’s home on Sunday and found 50 bottles of beer and 3 quarts of whiskey. He was arrested on illegal sale of liquor and jailed. The case faces trial Wednesday night.
The prayer meeting will be held at 7:00 o'clock Wednesday evening instead of 7:15 due to the Skovgaard concert.
Messrs Marvin Eagle Joe Cannon and Walter Moore of K W C with Claude Terrell State Student Secretary of the Y M C A returned Monday from Clay City where they conducted religious services for several days. The quartet comprised the Gospel Team and held meetings in three city churches with much interest shown.
The Auditorium broom ball team defeated the Scholastics 2 to 0 Saturday night. They meet again Monday night. Mr. Newt Powell is laying a new roof on the Auditorium building. It is the last week of skating at the Auditorium.
Mr. Charlton Lowe is slightly improved following his latest health update.
Tobacco sales will be held at both tobacco warehouses in this city beginning Tuesday at 9 o clock.
Mr A E Corey president of the Bible College of Nankin China formerly of America has been ill for months and his death is reported. Royal 3 Dye accompanies details of his career and service in the mission.
The Foreign Christian Missionary Society aims to raise 1 million dollars this year as veteran China watcher Mr. Corey describes upheavals in the empire. He cites anti idol protests in Nankin, reform in Manchuria, and the opium question. Dr. Royal J. Dye shares a powerful Africa mission tale from Bolenge with 700 members and 75 native missionaries supporting work across the Dark Continent.

After a nation wide police chase and a $200 reward offered by Mollie McLinn's father, the 16 year old heiress and banker groom, Mollie McLinn and Kelly Kash, wed in Ironton Ohio then flee through multiple towns before final marriage in Norton. The father forgives the marriage on their return to Hazel Green.
In Lexington Kentucky on a Sunday afternoon the rear section of the Hillside Flat Building on South Broadway collapsed about 1 30. The loss is roughly 5000 dollars and several residents were endangered. Mrs James F Grantham narrowly escaped with her family as firefighters cleared the wreckage and cut gas and water to the scene.
A fire on the second floor was quickly suppressed and placed where it could do no harm by officers. The debris zone around the building was immediately cordoned off and no one was allowed near as there was fear the remaining structure might collapse.
Mrs Georgia Wright widow of William Wright of Paris Ky and aunt of Newton B Mitchell Paris Water Works president died at St Josephs Hospital Lexington after a paralysis stroke and pneumonia. She was 71 and survived by daughter Miss Annie Wright and Mrs Mitchell.
Jackson Kentucky February 26 spring nears and a building boom is anticipated. A new Graded School on Highland avenue will begin soon and rush to completion. Many business houses and residences will rise this summer with fifteen thousand dollars allotted for streets and many sidewalks. Jackson aims to become a fifth class city with a city council and mayor and seeks railroad shops and a new depot. Citizens urge effort and cooperation to guide growth and attract prosperity near vast regional wealth.
Fifteen Italians halted in the city Monday on their way from Eastern Kentucky where they had been laboring on the L. and E. extension. They spent time at the depot weighing themselves on the weighing machine amid a lively scene.
The Republican State Central Committee of Kentucky directs a State Convention in Louisville on April 10 1912 to elect national delegates and two electors. Delegates to counties mass conventions on April 6 1912 with county variations. precinct meetings May 4 1912 elect new county committee members.
The notice states that the county committee will be elected by county or ward mass conventions held in the same county and at the same time as delegates to the State Convention. The mass conventions are scheduled for Saturday April 6 at 1 p.m. standard time. GEO W WELSH is Chairman and ALVIS S BENNETT is Secretary.
The Newcomb Automobile Bill passed the Senate on Saturday in Frankfort and retains a clause making owners liable for accidents caused by their cars even if not in the vehicle. Auto owners expect better treatment in the House, claiming the law is dangerous to own a automobile and unconstitutional.
The Kentucky Senate passed a redistricting bill 27 to 2, adding Park Estill Lee and Powell to the Seventh District and keeping the first six districts unchanged. Emergency clause allows immediate effect upon governor signature if the House agrees. The new map lists districts and their counties, with mostly minor boundary shifts.
A large crowd gathered for Courtday with active mule trading though few major sales. Notable mule deals included Duvall to Broek for 390, Lindsay to Broek 215, Thompson buying three mules at 200 and one at 165, and Patton to Harvey Scott for 465. Five hundred cattle were offered with slow trading and prices near last Court day. sales listed include steers, oxen, heifers, cows, and sizers with multiple buyers and weights noted.
A Kentucky land title suit over 2000 acres near West Liberty was decided in favor of Jerome Skidmore by Judge J. M. Benton in Jackson. The property valued at about $30,000 had been in Skidmore’s possession after he purchased it years ago for $8,000 from a claimant company.
