The Winchester Commercial Club will assist the local Woodmen of the World chapter in hosting the Head Camp when it meets in March. A standing committee was directed to coordinate with the Woodmen Committee on plans to entertain the visiting group.
Col H T Fenwick of London England visits in Kentucky at the Renicks country place. A retired army officer and three time House of Commons member he owns a large estate and fine stock. He praises American rider Ted Sloan as the greatest race rider. He tours the United States to view the blue grass country and is described as a high type of English gentleman.
In London at the National Association for the Prevention of Premature Burials meeting, A F Jenkins of Baltimore described a coffin shriek heard as a trolley moved toward cremation, with the body already on its way. Special to The News. DES MOINES, Iowa, Feb. 26. The Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul overland limited train was ditched at Van Horne, Iowa this morning. Engineer Brown was killed and several persons were injured. The train was totally wrecked.
In Cincinnati two burglars were found robbing the Mueller Licorice Company office when a watchman John Dusser shot them. One died at the hospital, the other gave the name John and is from the city.
Officers Tanner and Bedford returned Friday morning from a wild goose chase at Pine Ridge where they went to arrest Sam Everman, wanted on a charge of maliciously cutting Will Crow. A tip placed Everman in Pine Ridge, but he had eluded them and search was suspended for later.
Mrs Mary Dawson wife of Jeff Dawson a wealthy farmer of Owingsville died tonight after a lingering illness of consumption She was forty six years old and leaves a husband and two small children.
