County Board of Appraisers and County Clerk J A Boone finalize the 1909 county assessment totaling 10 712 770, up from 1908's 10 544 715. The record lists bonds notes cash on hand deposits, stock in national and foreign firms, land and stock counts, livestock, and miscellaneous property values totaling the grand total.
The Sporting News notes Winchester Kentucky signs the entire Russellville independent team, a Bowling Green favored squad, boosting Winchester to a potential top in the Blue Grass League. A meeting at H. H. Phillips store at 7 tonight will decide if Winchester funds the effort and joins next season’s league.
Mr George Reed died at two o'clock Friday morning after weeks of illness from tuberculosis. He was about 40 and resided on a Boonesboro Pike farm seven miles from the city. He had been treated in Cincinnati hospitals with no success. He leaves a brother Tom Reed and a sister Mrs W R Hampton, both of the county. Burial will be Sunday at 10 o'clock at the old home place on Boonesboro Pike, with Rev B J Davis of Lexington conducting services.
Connor and Horton, the largest Seattle buyers in this section, have dissolved their partnership and will sell all stock at auction on February 13. The move ends a long standing business tie in the local market.

Winchester Camp of the Woodmen of the World completed plans for the Head Camp gathering to be held in March. It will be the first time the Head Camp convenes here and local lodge plans a royal reception as the order expands rapidly in Central Kentucky over the past two years.
The regular City Council meeting tonight will consider several matters including confirming the purchase of a hose wagon for the fire department.
State Treasurer Farley has mailed checks to counties and the money will be ready on Saturday February 13 for the county school teachers as the last pay day of the present term.

Henry Morton, a black man, opened fire on streetcars and bystanders during a bold Memphis holdup. He shot at a produce dealer and children before being cornered on a porch by police and citizens. A four member committee from Mount Sterling will plan Republican and Democratic participation.
Louis J. Bloch of Chicago won a $100 prize for the best poem on woman suffrage. In Buffalo 100 men were captured in a raid on a cooking main. Prince George of Servia was severely injured speeding his auto in Belgrade. Mrs. Sarah K. Erick of Canton faces commitment to Massillon asylum after a wealth dream. Mrs. William Krueger, 55, was killed by a train at Plymouth. Rev. W. P. Welch of Fostoria is held on criminal libel charges. Carrie Nation was fined in London for poking an umbrella through a cigarette sign. A New York restaurant fire sent 200 guests to a hotel in nightclothes. September 24 is Ohio day at the Yukon-Alaska exposition.
Newark residents discuss the case of Frank Wilhelm a contractor found murdered at his home revealing he had three wives and no divorce. Police held Mrs Mary J Wilhelm and boarder Nicholas Sicca as further inquiries focus on the murder. Fredericka Wilhelm and sister Maria Armater fainted at the bier as identities surfaced and the funeral proceeded without Mrs Wilhelm.
