Burglars entered Mr. Bruce Wade’s storeroom on North Main Street during Thursday night or early Friday morning. They forced a front window and took a large quantity of candies fruits nuts and hardware. Police were notified Friday morning. suspects have not been found.
A jailer Jas Mullins faced no charges after Chief McCord accused him of keeping a dangerous gobbler at the city jail. Judge Pendleton and City Attorney Haggard refused action due to friendship and kinship. The board considered truancy enforcement, teacher raises, and school finances as well as a Paris school visit and supply inventory.
The grand jury, in session since the first of the month, adjourned Thursday afternoon after handing down indictments against Joe Mance Emma Ray Melissa Bradley and Made McCaffery for nuisance.

Nip, famed police dog, lay in state at the police station before a burial at Russell Montague’s home in Frankfort. The white casket, flowers, and patrol wagon sent the dog to rest as many officers attended the interment. Nip was known for tracing John Maxey after a lynching and for treing counterfeiter Jake Brill, among other feats.

Mt Sterling December 23 Deputy Jailer James Tipton killed Deputy U S Marshal Clint Allen and Mike Gibbons killed Walter Allen during an attempted arrest of the Allen brothers. Clint Allen formerly ran a saloon in Mt Sterling and is said to have killed a Black man years ago.
