City Council approves plan for assistant to city manager
At a city council meeting an ordinance creating an assistant to the general city manager passed first and second readings. The measure proposes a salary of 1 800 for the assistant, with the city manager later selecting his own aide at about 3 000 annually. Supporters seek an out of town manager with the present city manager Thomas J. Trier as the initial assistant. Some members opposed citing lack of funds and retrenchment. The ordinance sets the assistant’s term to December 1, 1921, and the final passage is planned for next Tuesday night.
