Bayliss Convicted Of Assault In Winchester Circuit Court
In Winchester, 18 year old Mark Bayliss was convicted of assault and battery with a motorcycle against Officer R. G. Williams after night time chase at Kline Elementary School last August. He received 70 days in jail and 130 dollars in fines, with defense planning an appeal bond. Williams and Krieger identified Bayliss. Bayliss claimed alibi and motor cycles were inoperable. Court disruptions followed verdict with deputies restraining Bayliss and family. judge postponed session to restore order.

Cain Held for Grand Jury in Fatal U S 11 Crash
Gregory A. Cain of Middletown was ordered held for a Frederick County grand jury on two counts of involuntary manslaughter from a July 14 crash on U S 11 North that killed David McClendon of Winchester and Terrence M. Anderson of Canada who rode a motorcycle. A witness testified Cain's car left the road and struck the motorcycle after he briefly looked away toward a ballfield. The defense motion to dismiss was denied and the grand jury will hear more evidence next session.
