President Ford leaves Washington for a two year campaign tour through the South aboard a paddlewheel boat styled after 19th century sternwheelers. Jimmy Carter heads to Los Angeles to address nuclear proliferation and campaign in Southern California before Oregon. Mondale and Dole also campaigned Friday. The Natchez sternwheeler will take Ford down the Mississippi for a seven hour excursion.
