Charles E. Trenary 52, co owner of Troy Steam Laundry, died after a five week influenza illness in Harrisonburg. A former city council member, he helped build the laundry into a major local industry and served on the Christian Church governing board. He is survived by his widow Rose Sump tion, two children Arthur and Neureta, and brothers Samuel W. Trenary and Joseph N. Trenary. Funeral at his home near Burter's Mill with interment at Woodbine Cemetery.

In Shenandoah County Circuit Court Bruce Stultz 18 pleaded guilty to larceny and received a suspended one year penitentiary term on condition to stay out of trouble. Howard Ryman 19 pleaded guilty to attempted armed robbery and was sentenced to one year on the state road. The court cautioned both on crime consequences. A separate case involved injuries from a gasoline truck collision with a railroad train. insurance paid hospital costs and the railroad remains liable for amounts paid plus costs. A $10,000 damages suit against J A Kagey for a Rudes Hill crash was set for trial October 22. A divorce decree for G A Emmert from Glennie Sutton Emmert was finalized.
