Berlin reports German forces close to Warsaw while Soviet troops push from the east. Nazi commands claim Polish resistance crumbling as talks on surrender surface. Reports describe German advances around Lwow and looming collision with Russian units near central Poland amid ongoing bombardment threats.
The AP report notes Soviet forces moving into Polish Ukrainian and White Russian regions with Red troops penetrating about 50 miles into Poland amid limited resistance. Molotov accuses Polish leadership of lies while Britain and France pledge neutral stance to 22 nations.

Virginia bureau of insurance officials report Shenandoah Life Insurance Co. officers were relieved of obligations totaling $450,000 through stock transactions. The Bureau’s actuary and chief examiner cited the move in response to former Gov. Trinkle’s claim that officers suffered losses, with statements from Bowles of the Corporation Commission requesting clarification.
German air force may join the fighting on the western front after claims its eastern mission neared completion. Berlin reports East German air units arriving in the capital while the Polish capital Warsaw remains unanswered amid encirclement of Lwow and Lublin near the Warsaw–Lwow corridor. One quarter of the Polish army is said to face destruction in a southwest Warsaw region.
