A Budapest radio report from Lwow Poland said German warplanes bombed War saw and Lwow throughout the night. Sirens warned of another raid as civilians were urged to take protective measures in war zones across Poland.
Frederick and Hardy counties celebrated Route 275 opening a new all weather trade link to Winchester from Moorefield South Branch Valley. Estimates praised turnout near 3000 as dignitaries cut ribbons at the state line and the Timber Ridge area hosted a midday program with music, speeches, and a feast at Larrick's Grove.
President Roosevelt signaled plans to confine the extra Congress session to revising the neutrality law. He indicated no anti profiteering, deficiency, or war risk insurance legislation would be requested. BERRYVILLE Virginia September 15 Leo Shorty Gaunt found guilty of possession of liquor while under interdiction and fined 100 dollars plus costs and sentenced to six months in jail. two others identified as Polly selling liquor and John Roberts were fined five dollars and costs.
The McIinee Municipal Band performs an open air concert this evening in front of City Hall starting at 7:30. It may be one of only one or two outdoor shows this season while indoor concerts resume in winter. Everyone is invited to attend.
In Warrensburg Missouri on September 15 a strike by electrical workers caused a wartime style blackout across over 100 communities. Patrols and deputies guided high tension lines. some lines were short circuited and poles felled. Most power was out with only auxiliary plants supplying minimal current to homes. Nevada relied on candles for a hospital and two hotels.
The sea war since September 3 has claimed 32 ships from belligerents and neutrals, with tonnage about 144 645 and deaths over 180. Britain, France, Germany, and others report losses while Dutch Greek and Finnish vessels also sink. Submarine activity near Ireland and warnings at St John suggest possible expansion to Western Hemisphere. A separate note announces a food sale at Reform Church on September 16.
French forces press the Moselle valley with attacks near Saarbrucken and near the German border town of Trier. German troops reportedly pull back from advance positions before the Siegfried line while rail lines along the river are torn up. London reports confirm second batch of British conscripts and ongoing naval economic warfare against Germany.
A National Fruit Product Company van driven by C L Patterson of this city crashed into the rear of a Martinsburg insurance man’s pickup on West Virginia Route 51 east of Inwood. The van overturned scattering jelly and jam cargo. Patterson and wife were cut and bruised, their child uninjured.

Berlin reports Hitler broadened an army amnesty to civilians. Fines up to 1000 marks and prison terms not exceeding three months were cancelled. Pending cases not exceeding three months were dropped.
The London Gazette reports King George approved Queen Elizabeth as commandant in chief of the Women's Royal Naval Service the Auxiliary Territorial Service and the Women's Auxiliary Air Force.
