Shenandoah Valley Fair Rushes Through Big Exhibition Day
The forty seventh Shenandoah Valley Agricultural Society show at Winchester fair grounds drew the largest crowd of the week amid hot humid weather turning briefly cloudy with a cooling sprinkle. Visitors from Frederick and nearby counties poured in while extra coaches ran on the Cumberland Valley and Baltimore and Ohio lines. The racing program featured six entries in a 2.16 trotting purse of 300 dollars and other races including purses of 125 to 150 dollars, plus a mule and motorcycle lineup. Tonight and tomorrow night offer free attractions, vaudeville, high wire and fireworks as the final day approaches.

Aged Shenandoah Bootlegger Arrested in Winchester
John Shoff, an 82 year old Shenandoah County resident, was arrested yesterday in Winchester on federal and state liquor violations. Indicted Monday by the Woodstock circuit court grand jury, he was taken to Woodstock amid pursuit by Shenandoah County deputies aided by local police while fleeing toward Pennsylvania.

Local youth Carey fined for fornication at fair charged with pocket-picking
A young man known as J. K. Carey from Staunton Va arreste d at the Winchester fairgrounds on suspicion of pocket-picking. He pleaded guilty to fornication, was fined 20 dollars and costs totaling 24, and released.
