Only One Robot Mouse Runs in Regional Race
At the IEEE regional robot mouse race in Philadelphia only one entrant, Ernest W Kalbfleisch of Rochester, named Charlotte, completed the 4 minute 45 second course. He built the $65 mouse to navigate by sensing maze walls omitting advanced hardware. The event aimed to spur engineers to develop sensing and guidance for microprocessors amid a crowd of 6,000 registered entrants.
