Grandison M. Preffitt, 40, a Winchester carpenter, was shot twice by George W. Reed, foreman of Shenandoah Valley Apple Cider and Vinegar Co., at Reed’s Fairmount Avenue home. Preffitt, feared fatally wounded, was found in a vacant lot and taken to Memorial Hospital. Reed claims self defense against an intruder. a felonious assault charge awaits.
