Community Colleges Vote to Raise Tuition in Virginia
The State Board for Community Colleges approved a tuition hike for Virginia residents from 225 to 300 dollars per year starting next June, with out-of-state rates rising from 750 to 1005 dollars. Chancellor Dana B Hamel said the rise could yield about 8 million dollars in additional biennial revenue, marking the system's first increase in four years amid concerns over enrollment effects. Governor Mills Godwin had urged increases to offset anticipated state revenue limits.
