Operators of Slot Machines Trial Tomorrow
Hearings in the case of county residents arrested this week by Sheriff Pannett for operating slot machines in violation of law will be held tomorrow at 11 o'clock in the county magistrate's court. Thirteen machines were seized and about six defendants, including George York of a Martinsburg pike filling station, are summoned. York, a Plainfield New Jersey citizen, claims he was told the activity was permitted and expresses embarrassment. Penalties include jail from fifteen days to six months and fines from 100 to 500 dollars. A warrant is out for the actual machine owner, expected to be taken soon.
