A shooting incident occurred at the home of Dan Grimes involving an unknown envelope as the cited trigger. Investigators have not released further details on suspects or motive.
A man, Richard Michaels, a plasterer about 40, died at Winchester Memorial Hospital from a gunshot wound suffered during a gathering at Daniel Leight's Grimes County home. Eight people including Mamie and Margery Vance were arrested on warrants for alleged complicity as the coroner’s inquest began.
Mrs Jane Gibson who says she witnessed the Hall Mills murder faced renewed scrutiny of her past as investigators weigh reports she is not a widow but married to Wil H Easton. Easton offered no comment while Gibson said she witnessed the crime and questioned why her past matters.

The move aims to boost local apple exports and regional tourism through expanded passenger service.

Her father Chief Running Wolfe and husband Dan Gayfish staged a war dance as Newana and her baby left the reservation for Nebraska where an uncle left her 15000 and land. She is 18 and married three years.

C M Hodgson, indicted last week on petit larceny tied to Beck Baking Company defalcations, has resigned as a member of the First Ward City Council. Reports say the resignation was handed to Council Clerk Thomas J Trier yesterday. City Manager Dettra and Trier declined comment. President Baker said he had no knowledge of a resignation.

Cal McCoy, a colored inmate in Charles Town West Virginia, condemned by Judge Woods to five years for burglary, attempted suicide by tying bed clothes into a rope and hanging himself in his cell. He had been tried for robbing and striking traveler John W. Birkitt but was acquitted on that charge. The jail physician described him as in a bad way but with a chance to recover.
Forest fires that raged for days six miles east of Wardensville West Virginia were brought under control early yesterday by volunteers guided by a U S fire marshal. The district remains patrolled as crews monitor the smoke filled area affecting 30 000 acres of virgin timber owned by Cornwell interests in Hampshire and Hardy counties.
