In Louisville rain and darkness helped a bank bandit escape after leaving 8800 dollars scattered along a city block. The thief entered the Broadway branch of First National Bank and ordered manager Clarence Kelley to collect money from tellers before fleeing on foot. A car carrying a Virginia couple and a Maryland man crashed through a guard rail near Halethorpe and rolled down an embankment onto Baltimore and Ohio railroad tracks trapping the trio for about 15 minutes. He had dumped $10000 of the coins into a creek and faced counterfeiting charges in Camden after waiving a hearing.
