A total of 25 345 copies of War Ration Book No 4 were issued to citizens of Winchester and Frederick County on Monday and Tuesday. Teachers of public schools conducted the work with some volunteer help. 11 982 books were issued in Winchester with distribution across Virginia Avenue Douglas John Kerr Handley and county schools. Those unable to secure Book 4 may apply at the War Ration Board after November 15. 398 people remain to receive books based on past issuance.

Fall From Truck Proves Fatal In West Virginia
Albert Hiett 61 of Cold Stream died at Memorial Hospital from a skull fracture after falling from the rear of a truck near Gore while en route home from Washington. He was known to ride in the truck’s rear, was not missed by driver Clint Belford until about 16 miles from Gore. Survived by two sisters Mrs. Cleve Wolford and Mrs. Clint Belford.
