Body Of Sutherland Found In Burned Car Near Woodstock
Woodstock October 25 The victim, Mr. Southerland, was found dead in a charred automobile after a highway fire. His son Leland Stanford Jr. arrived as the blaze was fought and tried to identify the car. Firemen surmised a sudden illness caused him to stop and a cigarette smoking accident started the fire. The Shenandoah county coroner Dr. W. C. Ford declined to say whether death occurred before the fire. Southerland, once in clothing, later worked as an automobile salesman for Northeast Motor Co. in Washington after moving from Woodstock seven years ago. He had been visiting his mother Mrs. Benjamin Southerland and his son. He is survived by two sisters Mrs. J Shields Chapman and Mrs. Paul Foltz. The community mourns the loss of a prominent local figure.

Armed mob of about 100 men raided the Esacambia county jail in Brewton early today and abducted Claude Neal a 23 year old negro who allegedly confessed to the murder of Lola Cannidy in Greenwood Florida. Sheriff G S Byrné said the mob planned to take him to Marianna Florida for the girl's father to mete out punishment. No trace of Neal or the mob was found by 9 a m.
