Ferry capsizing kills 109 in Korea river disaster

A river ferry near Seoul capsized while returning from a picnic. Ninety seven children and twelve adults drowned. rescuers saved eighty eight others. The vessel carried 187 passengers, mainly fifth and sixth graders from Anyang, with the principal aboard. It overturned when the crowd shifted to one side. This followed another South Korea ferry disaster earlier in the year. In Front Royal, Virginia, Dr. Werner A. Gergen becomes the 331st member of the Chamber of Commerce after joining the membership campaign.
