Washington reports a Justice Department roundup of about 86 aliens, led by 10 described as the most active in Communist propaganda. The arrests, extending coast to coast, rely on the 1950 Internal Security Act to detain them up to six months if deportation is pending.
Disabled American Veterans Chapter 9 plans a Saturday Forget-Me-Not Day selling blue flowers to raise funds for local disabled veterans and families in financial distress. DAV officials say contributions stay in the community for aid, hospital care, and employment support. Mayor Mifflin B. Clowe Jr. backs the drive and urged resident support for the annual observance.
The Associated Press reports varied conditions nationwide. Representative Burr P. Harrison who gives the main speech. A seven act floor show follows before dancing. Tickets are $5 from Kiwanis members.
Virginia’s 1950 traffic toll nears 700 as ten fatalities reported over the weekend. The victims include James Early Webb 46 of Petersburg and 10 others from Norfolk Meredithville Wal ton Newark Ocean View Ridgeway and Ashland among towns named in the weekend crash list.
In a phone interview with U S News and World Report, President Syngman Rhee said the Republic of Korea army can cope with remaining guerrilla forces after Korea is pacified. He warned reconstruction will be costly and that unity with the North awaits peace.
The Supreme Court agreed to review the New York conspiracy conviction of 11 top Communist leaders. It will hear December 4 on the Smith Act validity, limiting arguments to its legality while rejecting most other claims about trial conduct and jury impartiality.

Rain moved through Winchester late yesterday and will end tonight. Forecasters say Tuesday will be mostly cloudy and cool with temperatures not dropping below the mid forties. Last night reached 55 and daytime highs stayed under 60 as fall colors remained vivid along highways.
The Anti-Convulsive Clinic opens at 9 a m tomorrow at the District Nurses Association office 22 South Loudoun Street. Dr Randolph Leigh Jr will run a day long clinic for persons with epilepsy.
HARLANSBURG Pa three young explorers and a Cocker Spaniel were rescued after their flashlights failed in a newly found cavern. Wanderers Herbert Harkless 12 Eddie McClelland 16 Ernest Mallinak 26 and dog Andy spent about twelve hours in bat filled tunnels before rescuers reached them around midnight.
Fire equipment responded to two blazes in Winchester yesterday. At 12 30 a m the Southern States Winchester Service building at Cameron and Baker Streets caught fire and was controlled. At 6 19 p m a vacant Shawnee Service Station dwelling on Millwood Ave burned for a time before firefighters limited damage to about 200 dollars. Fire Chief Taylor Barr said both fires are under investigation.
