Mob Seizes and Kills Armwood in Salisbury Incident
An enraged mob dragged 85-year-old George Armwood from Somerset County Jail to a tree in Princess Anne Maryland where he was fatally harmed after allegedly confessing to an incident involving Mrs. Mary Denston. Three Hurt in Valley Pike Auto Crash Near City
Three men were injured in a late night crash on Valley Pike about 7:15 o clock, two seriously. Henry Bell, 57, a local contractor, and H Eugene McCormick, 55, an undertaker from West Virginia, suffered severe head injuries. Red Clark, 45, of Berkeley County, had a fractured collarbone and back injuries. A fourth man, Snaky Wright, from Berkeley County, was unaccounted for. An Olds Overland with four Stephens City men was also involved. Emergency crews treated victims. Bell survived after a brain pressure relief operation, while McCormick faced possible loss of eyesight. Bell had moved to Winchester 17 years ago from Brooklyn. McCormick is a local undertaker.
