U S District Court Judge Henry W. Goddard ruled fight films can be shown legally in New York and other states. He said exhibitors who receive films from noncarriers or by other means may display them without becoming accessories to interstate transportation law. The decision answered a query from the federal grand jury probing the Tunney-Dempsey bout footage.

In Wallenburg Colorado on October 20 I W W W strike pickets led by three women visited all local coal mines and forced five more mines to suspend operations. County officers arrested three alleged pickets, while many mines were left unmolested despite a state industrial commission edict. A revolver was shown but no shots fired as mine guards warned intruders away. One hundred sixty three company men worked at two mines yesterday. Also noted is a report of improved health for William P Massey of Am berst Street who has been ill with pleurisy.
