Five die as tractor trailer plunges down Big Savage Mountain
A tractor trailer lost brakes on Big Savage Mountain and crashed into a second truck near Cumberland Maryland killing five people from Frostburg and Cumberland and injuring others. The driver Paul Myers survived with minor injuries while another truck driver, Samuel Brenneman, was decapitated. Eyewitnesses described a fire and power line failures as the runaway rig plowed through Frostburg LaVale and into a yard before colliding with Brenneman’s vehicle.
