Myers of Winchester a steel worker and steeplejack now employed at Strasburg with help from Francis Woolf of Strasburg rescued several people from Washington and a man from Front Royal from a submerged bridge over the Shenandoah east of Strasburg late Saturday night. The river rose suddenly flooding the temporary bridge used since last spring wrecked the old structure. Reports say a car with two women and two men was trapped. Myers climbed to the bridge’s steel frame and lowered a rope downstream to the car, pulling each occupant to safety one by one.
